First Nations Commitment

Establishing strategic economic partnerships with First Nations is integral to renewable energy development in British Columbia. To achieve shared goals and objectives with First Nations for a sustainable future requires understanding, respect, trust and loyalty.

ROR Power is guided by the following principles in its relationships with First Nations:

• Recognition of First Nations’ vision for their land and community.
• Understand that First Nations have overlapping or shared territories.
• Acknowledge the diversity of First Nations’ distinct culture, values, interests and aspirations.
• Protection of First Nations land and resources for present and future generations through responsible, sustainable development and best practices.
• Achievement of shared goals and objectives for a sustainable future working with First Nations as partners. 
• Work in partnership with First Nations to identify economic opportunities and/or federal-provincial funding so they can participate meaningfully in project development opportunities.
• Provide ongoing meaningful economic, training and employment opportunities associated with ROR Power’s projects.
