Tsilhqot'in Biomass Power Project

Map

The Tsilhqot’in Biomass Project is a joint venture between Western Biomass Power Corp. and the Tsilhqot’in National Government (TNG).  The project is to be located 75 kilometres west of Williams Lake in Hanceville, BC.  Once completed, the 60 MW biomass facility will generate an estimated 420 GWh of electricity per year.

This project will:

  • Create new bioeconomic opportunities in forestry and agriculture for rural Cariboo and Chilcotin communities
  • Provide 50,000 homes with new “made-in-BC” bioenergy
  • Lower greenhouse gas emissions
  • Help capture value from deteriorating beetle damaged forests
  • Provide future power generation opportunities
